Dismissal

In order to provide a safe, timely, and organized dismissal, the following procedures are to be followed:

* Observe the 5 mph speed limit.  Observe the one-way traffic lane. Do not park sideways behind another parked car.

* No students should use an Uber (or other ride-share) without their parent/guardian being actually in the vehicle. (Exception: transportation provided by OCPS.)

* Vehicles should pull up to the next available number to drop off or pick up their children. Please fill in space between you and the car in front of you.

* Car riders should be dropped off and picked up in front of the school using the single lane driving area. Please do not drive behind the white dividers to drop off or pick up.  If you wish your child to be picked up by yourself by walking up to the dismissal area, please inform their teacher (via note) that they will be Front Gate Walkers from now on rather than wait in the busy dismissal area.  If you walk up to get your child, you will need to go to the front office with proper identification. They will need to approve you to pick up your student, then you will need to wait until your child is called from their dismissal area. Using the Front Gate Walker area eliminates the need for visiting the office or waiting for your child.

* Parents must display the school-provided hanging nametag in their vehicle. The nametag not only confirms who is being picked up, but also that the driver received the sign from the school and is not an unauthorized individual. Please write largely in dark ink.

Rainy Day Procedures and Severe Weather Procedures

Students will be dismissed in the usual way if it is raining and not storming. However, in the event of lightning being within 30 miles of the school, dismissal will be delayed in respect of the safety of our students and our staff.  Phone call-outs will be used to provide information.

Parent Contact

Please provide the school with all possible phone numbers to reach you or an other individual who could pick up your student in the event of an emergency. If your number changes during the year, please let the teachers and front office know.

Early Dismissal

If you or your child has a doctor appointment (or other appointment) after school, please follow these guidelines for signing your student out early if necessary.

*Please keep early sign-outs to a minimum during the school year.

*Please inform the teacher as early as you know you have the appointment scheduled, and then as well on the actual day. Please call the office that day, as early as you are able to call. This will help get your child prepared to leave. There should be no early pick-ups after 3:00pm / 2:00pm Wed.

* Bring in proper identification to sign your child out. Make sure that anyone you send to the school is on their information as an approved individual.

Change in Transportation

A written note is required if you change your child's method of transportation. Please remind your student to take the note to the teacher upon entering the classroom. If you call the school office, you must do so before 3:00pm/2:00pm Wed.  This gives us time to contact the teacher and verify the change. Only Parents/Guardians/Those On Emergency Pickup will be able to make changes to your child's way home.
